Are you considering an apprenticeship in construction? If so contact us today!
Hollybrook want to inspire young people to join the construction sector and we are offering apprenticeship roles at our Park Royal Development. According to Arcadis, Britain must recruit 400,000 people each year until 2021 to deliver in line with the country’s housing and infrastructure needs. With an aging workforce and Britain’s imminent exit from the European Union putting a question mark over the future of EU workers, it has never been more important to encourage young people into the industry to fill the skills gap.
With a lack of skilled workers, the construction industry faces an uncertain future. 62% of respondents to a 2017 Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) survey asserted that labour shortages are an impediment to growth; this has sharply risen since 2012, when the figure was 40%.
People taking up apprenticeships have already identified construction as a possible career path. The Considerate Constructors Scheme ‘Spotlight on… apprenticeships’ campaign focuses on getting young people to the point where they would consider entering the industry. For the purposes of this campaign, ‘the next generation’ is defined as young people who have not yet made career choices, from primary school children to young people Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEETs).
