December 2019 Newsletter

The majority of the first floor slab is now completed to Block B and will be finished by the end of the first week in December. We will be bringing in in precast columns in the first week of December, these will form the structure to be able to poor the concrete on the second floor, which we aim to have completed prior to the Christmas recess.

The stair and lift core to the large block is now coming out of the ground and rapidly increasing in height daily, thanks to the slipform method of construction that we are using. This allows us to focus on the floor level production as the cores can take the greatest amount of time during a traditional concrete shuttering construction. Therefore, it reduces the floor to floor slab pouring regime by nearly a week per floor. We expect to achieve 2.5m height daily!


The main sewer connections have been undertaken by tunnelling under the road during November. We achieved these works with zero impact to the traffic by doing so. We continue minimise the impact of deliveries with controlled delivery times in accordance with our Traffic management plan that we are adhering to, along with the traffic light controls.


Elsewhere we are concentrating on the groundwork drainage and underground services. We look forward to any comments or concerns that you may have, and note that we have a letter box on the Acton Lane hoarding should you want make contact in this manner.


The site will be closed during the Christmas period, however, we will have full time security. Our offices are closing on Friday 20th December and will reopen on Thursday 2nd January.
